"Releasing the potential within all"

Yr 5-6 Cross Country

Posted by Year 4 teacher on 21/09/2017

New year, new cross country season but the same physical demands of our dedicated runners.

For Year 5, this year sees a step up in distance, now they have reached upper ley stage 2, but all showed great commitment to finish the course, battling through aches and pains picked up around the course.

For some of our Year 6 runners, this was the first time they had been presented with this challenge and opportunity, and quite a daunting distance with which to start. For others, this was the first time they had run this distance non-stop for quite a few months, so well done to everyone for showing the stickability to complete the course.

All our runners today were excellent role-models to others, showing the grit and perseverance necessary to complete difficult challenges. The result is not always the most important thing, but today’s efforts are hopefully one small step for those children to developing the resilient side of their character which will stand them in good stead later in life. A heartfelt well done to everyone who took part – we are very proud of you for seeing it through to the end (and hopefully you might want to do it again later in the year!)

Results now in: our highest-placed team were the year 5 girls, who finished 3rd. Well done girls!
